Facts About Being Overweight-Can Your Afford To Ignore the Facts?

By Xania C Hughes

Facts about being overweight can be extremely disturbing when they are considered properly by people like me, who know they weigh too much. Problem is, we know we are overweight, but are not quite sure what to do about it! Personally, this is now such a problem for me that I really must do something about my weight problem. Why? I have been really disturbed by the latest facts about being overweight!

What could be so worrying about the facts of overweight that I would be moved to do something about weight loss? I've shared what I've found out here:

1. 64% of people in the US are overweight

2. 48 percent of people in Europe are overweight

3. 27% of Americans are classified as obese

4. Researchers assign 325,00 deaths each year to the problems associated with obesity

5. Because the treatment for obesity is expensive and drawn out, costs associated with the condition were an estimated $75 billion in 2003.

6. 300 million people worldwide are obese

7. 750 million people worldwide are overweight

8. Revenue in the weight loss niche is expected to reach $61 billion dollars in 2008 alone

I think its the last one on my list of facts about being overweight that has got to me the most. I don't want to cut my life short because I haven't eaten properly or exercised enough. I know I am almost 50 pounds too heavy, and that I don't exercise anywhere near enough (well not at all really!) The facts about being overweight have finally hit home. If I want to see my children grow up and if I want to stay active and mobile I must do something about my weight now and not keep putting it off.

Apart from researching the facts about being overweight, I also looked into the latest weight loss trends. Researchers have shown that best weight loss occurs with a balanced , healthy diet and simple but regular exercise. People who stick to a plan on these lines lose weight and maintain the weight loss more successfully than people using any other method.

By the way, I also found out that:

* Keeping weight off for long periods is difficult using weight loss pills

* Hollywood and fad diets usually only lose water from your system and as soon as you start eating again you gain the lost weight back

* It is better to learn how to design and prepare your own diet style meals. Using pre packaged and frozen diet meals only benefits the companies who manufacture them

* It is possible to build muscle using gym equipment that is expensive, but in reality, it is a proper eating plan that removes the fat located above muscle tissue.

Daunting isnt it? No wonder the majority of overweight people (of which I certainly admit I am one) give up and make no changes at all. Unfortunately, the facts about being overweight wont let us keep thinking like that if we want a healthy, long and happy life.

Fact is, now I know about the risks my lifestyle is exposing me to I'm going to make a commitment to a healthy weight loss program as soon as possible. For me personally, the facts about being overweight have got through at last, and are motivating me to take this opportunity to turn my health around and ensure I will be around to see my grandchildren!

If you are searching for a healthy way to lose weight, it is possible to find weight loss programs that are both inexpensive and have proven results. With the added advantage of assisting safe and effective weight loss, these plans also mean you are not required to purchase, expensive exercise equipment, toxic diet pills or pre-packaged diet meals. - 16752
