Is Treadmill Walking for Weight Loss Really Possible?

By Torri Tompson

I'm sure like many people you may think that losing weight is complicated or hard, but I'd like to show you how easy it really can be. Did you know for instance that walking on a treadmill is one of the easiest and most effective methods of burning calories and therefore losing weight? It's a sad fact but our busy schedules mean a lot of us find it hard to find time to exercise.

We sit at a desk all day, and come home to relax on the couch and watch TV. We do it out of exhaustion. This type of lifestyle is very unhealthy, but there's a quick fix to turn your health around.

If you are like me and don't want to join a public gym, then why not buy your own treadmill? Home treadmills are convenient and can really help you lose weight; and the best thing is that they are so simple to use, you just get on it and walk!

It's probably the case that you used to walk a lot more when you were younger, but like most of us it's easy to fall into the trap of not doing enough physical exercise. The great thing about using a treadmill is that you don't have to count reps in your head, or worry about holding or using the equipment properly.

Apart from your treadmill the only other thing you need to start losing weight is a little bit of self belief. It's easy to get overwhelmed by diets which require you to measure food portions, or to monitor how many calories you have eaten and how many you have burned.

Walking on a treadmill means you don't have to think so hard about losing weight. Many studies have shown that even a 10 minute walk every day improves your cardiovascular health.

If you want to start seeing weight loss results almost immediately then you should try to walk about 2000 steps each day. This will take you around 20 or 30 minutes depending on how quickly you walk. Of course, the more you walk, the fitter and slimmer you will become.

Walking really can work wonders for you, and not just in terms of losing weight. Walking is also a great way to help prevent heart disease, and it helps to keep your blood pressure low and it can even help control diabetes. You will also find it a lot easier to concentrate after a long walk as it will help clear your mind.

If you are serious about using treadmill walking as a way to lose weight, you may benefit from buying a pedometer because research has shown that people who monitor the number of steps they take each day usually increase their activity and therefore see the best results.

If you prefer you can start your treadmill walking routines slowly and over time build up to using your treadmill for longer periods. You will find yourself walking at a faster face, and at a higher incline, both of which will help you to lose weight in the most efficient way, as well as improve your overall health. - 16752
