Easy Cleaning Polished Concrete Tips

By Mikkan Drane

Concrete polished floor had become quite the popular alternative against the rest of its floor type competition mostly because of how easy it is to maintain it. Usually, a polished concrete floor only requires mop damping, washing and nothing more. Unless of course necessary which could also be because of so many reasons.

If you chose the natural look for your concrete polishing floor style, you will have a bit of a hard time realizing your floor actually needs cleaning because of the way it can hide the dirt. The presence of dust buildup and grime on the surface of a natural colored concrete polished cannot easily be distinguished.

While on the colored or stained concrete polished floor types, identifying the presence of dirt can be a lot easier. Whichever is your option, the point is to be able to clean it after realizing it had gotten messy over the days. This of course guarantees the longevity of your concrete polished floor.

The first thing to consider when recognizing the muck that needs cleaning on your concrete floor is to clean up the left over epoxy residues after sealing your floor. These residues can easily be removed by burning them off with the use of a blowtorch. If at some point the blowtorch leaves black markings behind, easily clean it with the suitable bleach necessary for your concrete polished floor.

After you have removed the Epoxy residue, you can now determine what kind of cleaning agent would work well on your floor's material. You can either use water with hydrochloric acid or phosphoric acid for cleaning depending on what your concrete polished floor requires. As for the rest of the common dirt, water and bleach would still usually work.

Steam cleaning is also an option to consider when cleaning your concrete polished floor. It is actually one of the safest means of maintenance that can prevent having unwanted damages on the floor due to inappropriate cleaning materials. This is often preferred when cleaning away coffee, pop, or other beverage stains on your polished concrete floor.

Often times, we panic at the thought of cleaning oil and grease since they seem like the hardest to remove on concrete polished floor. But would you believe that all you need for this is some sawdust or kitty litter spread on the thick layer of stain? Leaving it to dry for a day or two, sweeping it up then covering the stain again with dry cement mix will actually do the trick of cleaning it off.

As for the rest of the dirt demands that needs cleaning, you may depend on the traditional cleaning style if it could easily be removed. Add in the regular maintenance required for the benefit of the floor, and that's all. You will be guaranteed your floor will be able to service you for a very long time because of the way you are taking care of it, no questions asked. - 16752
